In "#41 681,60" a figure in red gloves stands over a fallen opponent, the way the famous 1965 boxing photograph framed it, except that both fighters here are pale mannequins and the chest of the winner says "Muhammad Ali". Behind the ropes the crowd is painted in dark green with red bars across their eyes. They hold signs about armies and bitcoin, and a couple of them are filming on their phones. The number in the title reads to me like a price tag, and the whole picture is about fame being counted, filmed and sold. I wanted this Muhammad Ali lithograph to feel like a loud sports moment seen through a screen.
Each pop art lithograph is hand-finished. The base is a printed image, and I add my own acrylic brushstrokes on top, so the surface has real brushwork and texture, not just ink. A textured gel goes on white and dries completely clear. The lithograph arrives stretched on a stretcher frame, in a black frame, at 60 x 80 cm, and each one has its own serial number and a certificate. This Muhammad Ali lithograph is pop art for living room walls, or anywhere you want a conversation to start.
