Why pop art works in restaurants, cafés and hotels

People in a dining room sit still and look around. A wall that gives them something to look at helps. Pop art wall art does that well. It is bold, it reads from across the room, and it starts conversations. Guests ask about it. Many of them photograph it.

I make art for restaurants and art for hotels, as well as for cafés, bars, short-term rental apartments, beauty salons, barbershops and offices. It comes in one of two forms: a single large original painting, or a set of hand-finished lithographs chosen for the interior. I have made lithograph sets for restaurants and cafés, including works made specially for a large order.

One original gives you a single piece of statement wall art for the main wall. A set lets several walls work together and keeps the budget well below several originals. I will tell you which one I think fits your space.

Where my work hangs

Castival Hotel, Side, Turkey

One of my paintings hangs in the Castival Hotel in Side. The hotel also has a section about me on its arts page.

D-Apartments, Kraków, Poland

Five short-term rental apartments near the Old Town and the main station are decorated with my original works and lithographs, which makes them a real example of airbnb wall art. Their listings say so, and guests get a discount on my works. The apartments have their own site, dapartments.eu, and are also listed on Booking, Airbnb and noclegi.pl.

Mixology Bar by PUNIN, Limassol, Cyprus

Mixology Bar by PUNIN in Limassol has a lot of my paintings on its walls. Good restaurant wall art is part of the evening, not an afterthought.

Beauty salons and a barbershop in Warsaw

Several beauty salons and a barbershop in Warsaw have my work on their walls. A waiting area suits barbershop wall art and salon pictures alike. Clients have time to look.

Magic Place beauty salon

For about a year the Magic Place beauty salon showed my paintings as an exhibition, and several works were sold through it.

A hookah lounge and beauty salons in Dubai

In Dubai my work hangs in a hookah lounge and in several beauty salons.

Apartments, salons and a restaurant further east

A host in Minsk who runs rental apartments has a lot of my work across his flats. There is a restaurant in Vitebsk with my paintings, and barbershops and beauty salons in Minsk and Moscow. In Samara a friend builds houses for rent, and my paintings hang there too.

Private collections and gifts

My work is in homes from New York to Vladivostok, with collectors in Switzerland and Canada too. Many works were bought as gifts. One of them went to Slabozhenko, a well-known Ukrainian personality: a friend of mine gave him a painting for his birthday, and he showed it in his stories. I don’t personally know most of the people who own them, and that suits an anonymous artist. My paintings have also been exhibited in galleries across Europe, the USA, the UK, Cyprus and Hong Kong.

How a project works

It is a short conversation, not a long process.

First, you send me photos of the walls and their sizes. Then I suggest works from what I have, or we talk about a commission. We agree sizes, frames and timing in conversation. When it is settled, the work is shipped framed and ready to hang.

There is no online checkout. Every order starts with a message.

Originals or lithographs?

An original is oil and acrylic on stretched canvas, usually 120×90 or 90×90 cm. Commissions can be any size. It is the better choice for a lobby, a bar wall or a dining room that needs one strong focal point. Most of my originals are already sold, but a new one can be painted to order.

A lithograph is a print of one of my originals, finished by hand with my own acrylic brushstrokes over 40 to 50% of the surface and a textured gel that dries clear. It is stretched, in a black frame, with a serial number and a certificate. Most are 60×80 cm and cost €400 each. They are made to order.

For a tight budget, or for cafe wall art with several pieces in a row, lithographs are the practical option. For one big wall, I would paint an original. Many businesses combine the two.
