Andy Warhol's Dreams puts a green-eyed girl in front of a black background and fills her body with the images Warhol made famous. Campbell's soup, Coca-Cola bottles, dollar signs, a revolver and a banana run down her arms and stomach like tattoos, while a yellow portrait and a comic-book eye look out from her shoulders. Her face and sleeves slip sideways in glitchy strips, as if the screen caught up a second too late. It is andy warhol pop art for people who live among feeds and logos.
This is a hand-finished lithograph. I paint over the print with my own acrylic brushstrokes, so the surface has real colour and brush texture instead of flat ink. A textured gel goes on white and dries completely clear, which gives the surface its relief. Like any pop art lithograph worth hanging, it should look different from a few steps away and from up close.
The work measures 60×80 cm. It arrives stretched on a stretcher bar in a black frame, and each one has its own serial number and certificate. The black ground and bold colour make it a natural piece of pop art for living room walls, and a strong pick among contemporary art prints for a hallway or an office.
