«Basquiat Dreams»

She crouches in a straw hat and orange sunglasses, wrapped head to toe in painted graffiti art: crowned heads, masks, scrawled words and thick gold chains. Her braids are laced with gold, her boots wear a luxury monogram, and a black bar slices across her face like a censor's mark. The faces on her clothes are loud, but she says nothing.

I see a portrait of someone who has become a wall. Streets, logos and brands pile up on her skin until the person and the surface are hard to tell apart.

Every pop art lithograph of this work is hand-finished. I paint over the lithograph with my own acrylic brushstrokes, so the gold, the reds and the blues have texture you can see from the side. A gel goes on white and dries completely clear, giving the black field a raised, scratched feel under the light.

It measures 60 x 80 cm, stretched on a stretcher bar in a black frame, and works as pop art for living room walls or a hallway. Each lithograph carries its own serial number and a certificate.
