A man in a suit made entirely of $100 bills stands against a gold wall. His portrait is drawn like a banknote engraving, but the face is cut into strips that slip sideways, with gold rectangles where the eyes and mouth should be. In his dripping hands he holds a torn scrap of a bill. Behind him run thin black market charts labelled BTC, Brent, CNY and ETH, next to blocks of colour. I made it as dollar bill art about what happens when everything gets a price tag and the person is the only thing left blurred.
The suit is sharp and readable, bill after bill. The head is the part that breaks apart. That contrast is what I keep looking at.
This is a hand-finished lithograph, one of the pop art prints I finish myself. I add my own acrylic brushstrokes on top of the print, plus a textured gel that goes on white and dries completely clear, so the gold and the drips have real surface and depth. It comes stretched on a stretcher and framed in black, 60 x 80 cm. Each lithograph has its own serial number and a certificate, and it is made to order. It works as art for office walls or any room that can hold a loud piece of dollar bill art.
The original painting is sold, but I can paint it to order in any size.
