A framed picture of two horses hangs on a blue wall, and beside it, on a blue staircase, a white dog, a ginger dog and a cat use the steps as a toilet. Pets friendly is a joke about house rules, the ones that promise a warm welcome to animals and say nothing about the steps. This dog pop art keeps the gag gentle: the animals look more relaxed than the horses in their yellow frame.
The colours are loud on purpose. Pink, yellow and a long run of blues are cut by a few small red, blue and yellow blocks that come from Mondrian. Raised lines wander across the wall like old plaster, so the scene feels built rather than printed.
This pop art lithograph is made to order and finished by hand. After printing, I add my own acrylic brushstrokes on top, then a textured gel that goes on white and dries completely clear, so the frame and the wall have real relief. These hand-finished pop art prints are stretched on a stretcher bar and come in a black frame, 60 x 80 cm. Each lithograph has its own serial number and a certificate.
It is the kind of dog pop art that gets a laugh in a hallway or a rental apartment and then keeps getting looked at. Message me on Instagram or by email to ask about timing and delivery.
The lithograph follows my original painting.
