«The Mona Lisa (1)»

Leonardo's Mona Lisa, hacked. Her face is cut by a glitch strip and a black bar, pixel squares float off to the side, and a hundred-dollar bill replaces her collar, complete with the Federal Reserve seal. It is about the most reproduced face in art meeting money and screens. I made the original in 2021, and this mona lisa pop art lithograph is from 2023.

It is a hand-finished lithograph. I paint over the print with my own acrylic brushstrokes, so the orange and yellow have real thickness, not only ink. A textured gel goes on white and dries completely clear. Next to ordinary pop art prints, this modern Mona Lisa has a surface you want to look at from the side. I like it as mona lisa pop art for a strong wall, and it holds up well as airbnb wall art.
