«Too much doesn’t mean good»

A woman in a tall blue headdress stares straight out at you while her face breaks into strips and black blocks. A pattern of interlocking logos covers her from the crown down, and one turquoise earring is her only bright jewel. I see a portrait of excess, luxury brand art with a crack in it: the more she is dressed, the less of her is left.

The dark ground around her is rough and sculpted, with a few small colour blocks and red pixels on the left, like a screen about to fail. It makes good art for an office, or for any wall that needs one loud portrait. This is luxury brand art that looks back at you.

This is a hand-finished lithograph, 60 x 80 cm. After the print is made I go over it with my own acrylic brushstrokes, so the surface has real brushwork and not just ink. I add textured gel that goes on white and dries completely clear, which gives the image relief. Most contemporary art prints are flat. My pop art prints are not. It comes stretched on a stretcher and framed in black, with its own serial number and certificate.
